    1. I am really liking the Simpson Creek Spinsters club s Mail order grooms, the story of Dr Nolan Walker is really great One of the leading women of the town , Sarah, wrote to him and fell in love with his letters but upon his arrival and knowing he is a Yankee she just cannot let him court her, until things happen around this little town, you dont want to miss reading this story by Laurie Kingery, The Doctor Takes a Wife.

    2. The spinsters of Simpson Creek are a spunky, determined group of women They advertise for mail order grooms because so many men did not return from the civil war Prejudice, cattle rustling, murder, a flu epidemic, faith, friendship, and clean romance all keep things interesting in this quick, easy read.

    3. This is a great second book in the series In fact, I liked it than the first I love Nolan s character and although he had sadness and tragedy in his life, he didn t let it consume him And I really liked the scripture Sarah used to comfort her when she got scared or worried It s hard to believe character transformations sometimes, especially with the shorter novels, but the author does a great job with making Sarah s transformation overcoming her prejudices believable.

    4. I loved it It s a continuation of the Simpson Creek brides the second book, and I loved it The characters were very well developed The plot was intriguing and there were lots of twists that kept me terribly engrossed.Lots of historic like elements were there influenza epidemic, insanity, outlaws, etc I d recommend it to anyone with a taste in history

    5. Nice continuation of the Simpson Creek series I especially liked the doctor who was an honorable but troubled man Starting on the next in the series, The Sheriff s Sweetheart.

    6. I am loving this series Can t wait to read the next one I love the twist on mail ordered brides The spunk and independence of these ladies is what makes this series so fun to read

    7. Review to come But, pleasantly surprised with this novel.Okay, so I don t know why but I am hooked on this Simpson Creek series I tried this one thinking I wouldn t like it as much as the first and while it took me awhile to get into it, but the end I was flying through.I had previously liked Sarah from her sister Milly s story but in this book of her own, she just increased tenfold You got a chance to see her strong and brave and resourceful and I really liked that I also liked the background o [...]

    8. The Doctor s Wife by Laurie Kingery is a Christian historical romance with some drama and adventure set in Texas shortly after the civil war It s the second book in the Brides of Simpson Creek series It is a stand alone novel, but the events in the first book are referred to a lot Nolan, the new town doctor had been corresponding with Sarah, the sister to the previous book s heroine, prior to the beginning of this book Sarah is extremely upset because it turns out that Nolan is a Yankee She does [...]

    9. It s been a while since I read the first book in the series, but I remember really enjoying it I really like the premise of the series that the single women of Simpson Creek are determined to find their own husbands in the wake of the many losses of the Civil War The tensions between Nolan and Sarah were believable, although I wished there had been a bit depth to them Their worries were hinted at but not fully developed The book really picked up during the influenza epidemic and that s where I [...]

    10. This is the 2nd book in the Brides of Simpson Creek series by Laurie Kingery It s a sweet Historical romance from LoveInspired So it does have folks in it that believe in God and that is a big part of the stories I enjoy reading them from time to time and I m really into this series at this time It is set in the period after the Civil War in Texas It s about the unmarried ladies of Simpson Creek that doesn t have any unmarried young men in their town because of the war and come up with the idea [...]

    11. Laurie Kingery does a good job of matching up opposites In this historical story, a southern spinster from Texas is looking for a husband The only available one in town is the new doctor Everyone likes him and he is a good doctor, but he won t do as husband material for Sarah Matthews He s a yankee.

    12. Very good story, part of a series.on to the next bookgood story line great characters.Highly recommend this seriesLauri Kingery did a great job w on to the next book in the seriesgood reading for relaxing

    13. The first 2 3 or so strike me as X TREME Anne of Green Gables Not that that s an entirely bad thing Not strictly necessary to read the prior book s in the series I didn t Review at blog.juliebihn

    14. Ok, it was a good read but had moments of boredom and then all this calamity hit at one time I am interested in author s other works but this is not one of those stories to read again and again Sorry.

    15. Talk about action in such a small book I just wish there was character development I felt the only time we really got into Nolan and Sarah s heads were when the situation was desperate.

    16. Love the books twists Laurie put some good ones in it I ve read it three times and it still feels fresh.

    17. I enjoyed this book The small town hardships and reactions to wartime were interesting mixed with a sweet romance.
